My name is
Juan Carlos Rodríguez Palma , and I am an English teacher . I got interested in
English teaching when I was in the
Technical High School in Upala . When I was in ninth grade, in 1987, I
participated in an exchange program sponsored
by MEP, USAID, and 4-H Club. It was a great experience not only because
I hadn´t had the opportunity to be in contact with the American culture, but
also because it was a dream for me to travel and learn the language as I did.
When I finished high
school I got a scholarship to study English in the Universidad Nacional( UNA)
in Heredia C.R. I graduated with my Bachelor´s Degree in 1995. The same year I
got in the postgraduate program, “Contrastes Culurales y Comunicación” , but I
couldn´t finish it. In 1997 I opened a language school in Barva de Heredia ,
Escuela Latina de Lenguas , where we taught English and Spanish as a second
language .
I moved to Cañas,
Guanacaste in the year 2001 and I started working with Universidad Latina as an
English teacher in the English Program, and at the same time I got my
“Licenciatura” in English Teaching.
In the year 2004 I was
in charge of the English Program for OBM ( Private Teacher Program ) where I
worked as Monitor and English Instructor.
In the years 2005-2009
- I worked as an English instructor for INA in Liberia and Santa Cruz, Guanacaste, later in Upala
and Guatuso . Working with the INA program I had the opportunity to meet with the
Maleku´s culture , and where I had the great experience of teaching English to
a community that hadn´t had any contact with the English speaking cultures so
far.
In the year 2010 I
worked for INVENIO University in Cañas, Guanacaste, there I taught English and
participated in the elaboration of the English Programs for the different
majors.
Since 2010 I´ve been
working for MEP in different programs ( CINDEA, Conversational English in High
School, Elementary School , Technical School- Sección Nocturna ) , and now I am
working in the Administrative area as an “Auxiliar Administrativo” in CTP Upala .
Currently I´m working
for UNED in the Extension Programs , CONARE and Young Adults as an English
Instructor .
English 4U2 was born with the idea to offer our communities the opportunity to
learn English through the Radio and through Platforms like Zoom . I will use
all my working experience to use the right method for an effective result. I´m
glad to see you here.
